Unless the state invests more in Basic Education Funding, our public schools will continue to be forced to make cuts and impose local tax increases that hurt our students and communities here in Allegheny County and across the commonwealth.
State lawmakers are working to pass a budget for the next year. This budget is due tomorrow. To keep local schools from falling too far behind, the state needs to increase Basic Education Funding by $100 million and make no other cuts, including reductions in school transportation, to public schools.
They need to hear from their constituents immediately so they make students a priority.
