Children returned to Pittsburgh Public Schools this fall with a new school supply — refillable water bottles. During the summer, school administrators added three to five water hydration stations in each school building, either replacing or supplementing existing water fountains.

These hi-tech water jets stream filtered, chilled water into bottles. The water looks better, tastes better and is easier to drink than water-fountain water. Adding 234 hydration stations in 54 schools (plus 78 new fountains) shows a commitment by the district to help children make the healthiest drink choice possible — water.
